Using Craigslist to increase Leads
Craigslist is a platform that allows you to buy or sell almost anything you want. It has other purposes as well such as job post, and real estate listings. For the purpose of this blog post I’m going to show you how you can use Craigslist to increase your business leads by a substantial amount. This is the same formula we use for our clients here at Fusing Marketing and it has yielded awesome results.
Craigslist is a very straightforward platform. It allows you to post ads but it doesn’t let you “abuse” the system. What we mean by this is spam. A lot of business owners or Entrepreneurs who post on Craigslist tend to spam sections with generic ads and copy and pasted material. This will inevitably lead to your ads being flagged and or ghosted (Slightly Worse).
Ghosted – When your ads are “Ghosted” they appear in your back office as if they are live, but when you search the pages of Craigslist your ad is nowhere to be found.
Flagged– When your ad gets flagged it is deleted from the section where it was originally posted and it is no longer viewable.
So how do you do it?
Posting on Craigslist with success can be very time consuming. Especially if you are focused on other aspects of your business; if you can find a way to incorporate Craigslist into your marketing efforts it will help tremendously. So here is how you can get the best out of your craigslist campaigns
1) Create Different email addresses – Decide how many ads you want to post per day. Then create different email accounts, so you don’t end up posting 20 ads on one account. We usually go with a 5:10 ratio (5 email accounts for every 10 ads).
2) Create Craigslist accounts – Once you have created your multiple email accounts, using those same email accounts create the same number of Craigslist accounts. I.e. 10 email accounts equals 10 Craigslist accounts.
3) Create content for Craigslist Ads – Your emails are created and so are your Craigslist Accounts. Now its time to create content for your ads. If you plan on posting 20 ads per day then create about 10 unique CL ads. This way you ensure that your ads have variety. Make sure to use pictures and keep your ads short and sales driven.
4) Start Posting! – Now you’re ready to start posting. Only post 4 ads per hour at Most! Try to spread your ads 15 minutes apart to prevent over posting. I suggest 20 per day that is a good aggressive number that will let you fly under Craigslist’s radar.
There’s no magic to CL posting just patience. Don’t get frustrated if ads start being “ghosted” or flagged. It’s the nature of the game just keep posting. Remember to only post in your city, unless you have the special hardware to do other wise.
